this is why i've started twin peaks a million times and have never finished it despite constantly hearing how much i would like it. i have zero attention span anymore, and usually lose interest in a show after the first episode. it's just too slow for me :(

I don't that's so irrational. There's an expectation of comfort since it worked in the past, but now it's not working and that can be disappointing af. So now you have to adjust expectations, which isn't comforting at all.

There are definitely films I can't watch again, or at least all the way through again (John Hughes films, for example). In some ways, I've become a different person and that shit just doesn't hit all the spots it used to. (Or as you pointed out, hasn't aged well.)
