i don't think so (i love halloween), because there's way less stress around it. the gift-giving/shopping, all the cooking, going to a million different events in a three-day span because the expectation is to see every friend and family member for one holiday, etc. are reasons i hate christmas. the stress takes all the fun out of it, not because it's in stores six months in advance

On the other hand, more Halloween events are starting to pop up, and costume brainstorming/assembling can be quite stressful for some. These things will likely push Halloween costs up even higher than they already are. I wouldn't be surprised if other parallels between these holidays start to appear, although I feel like the resentment may need another couple decades to really start showing up.

I agree. The stakes are much lower, and you can ignore Halloween stuff as you please. We don't get Halloween off, and like you said we aren't expected to visit folks.
