I think I saw Popeye once as a kid when it was on TV but I can't really recall much of it. Other than that, nope. Never seen these. And honestly if you had just mentioned the name without the visuals I would have given you a confused "who?"

Never seen any of his films either, even though I've heard of several of them.

I don't think I've seen any of those, but I did enjoy Gosford Park?

I keep meaning to watch Prairie Home Companion since I enjoyed the radio show, but so far haven't got around to it.

I've seen MASH.

I've heard of most of these. You'd think I've have seen more of them for a middle-aged person. Huh.

It hasn't aged too badly, actually. You DO need to make some allowances both for the time it came out and the time it was set (so much sexism), but it's aged better than a lot of its contemporaries.

Every iteration of MASH is slightly less sexist and misogynist than the one before. The show took a step down in sexism every season, season one was a billion times less sexist than the movie, and book is practically a hate crime.

I'm not sure I'd say season 1 was that much better than the movie for it - they couldn't get away with stuff like humiliating Margaret by dropping the shower wall when she was in there, but I really feel like they would have if the censors would have let them.

That said, I do agree with your statement on the whole.

I've seen three on here, Popeye, Cookie's Fortune, and MASH, plus Prêt-à-Porter, Gosford Park, and Dr. T and the Women - I would say two were bad, two were meh, and two were good. His style is just all over the place, sometimes in a very literal sense when he follows multiple character perspectives. It can be interesting, but I'm not sure you're really missing much.

It says only good things about you. There is no "need" to watch films you lack the time and desire to watch.

All it says is that you don't feel like watching Altman films.

The Long Goodbye is IMHO, the best movie he ever did, why is it not mentioned by anybody here?
