I doubt the OP is actually homophobic. The obvious queer overtones and progressive themes of Steven Universe would scare off any actual homophobes from the show (ruby' and sapphire's relationship, pearl falling for punk girl, pearl and rose relationship and also steven's gender nonconformity. The dude isn't exactly the most masculine guy around. He also cross-dressed multiple times) .

An actual homophobe would run for the hills away from the show and fandom

You'd be surprised how thoroughly bigots can ignore that Their Show's message is a direct refutation of their beliefs, if they only try very hard and believe in themselves.

Adult fans miss the message of kids' shows all the time. Even plenty of the progressive fans of SU missed how the show was about kindness, not being a dick to others and accepting people for who they are and they still bullied several people to the brink of suicide over shipping and not drawing a character fat enough.
