There is more chance of Song of the South making it out of The Vault than this movie.

This is such a weird secret. Of course they aren’t putting it on Disney+. Same as all their other horribly racist crap. None of which is a secret that it ever existed and none of which is suitable to be distributed today. I actually think they’ve done a good job in releasing things that include some horrible elements and including a warning for them rather than to shut them away or alter them. But the stuff that is 100% unacceptable is rightly locked away for good.

Never heard of this film.

A guy moves to France, buys an olive tree farm, purchases some literal chimpanzees to harvest the olives, locals object, hijinks ensue...comedy? Oh, and at some point he falls in love. Not with one of the chimps.

There's a lot of Disney animal cruelty films that have made it to Disney+, what's different about this one?

My guess is it just flopped so heard nobody cared about it. I hadn't even HEARD of it until now!

Maurice Chevalier was in it, and he was a big time collaborator with ...you know... those wacky German guys during the late thirties to mid forties. Yeah.

That is a uniquely uncharitable way of characterizing the actions of a professional entertainer whose government was essentially holding his Jewish wife and in-laws as hostages against his cooperation, but such is the way of the Zoomers.

nayrt

Struggling with misinformation or black-or-white thinking is not a uniquely Gen Z thing.

It's a racism allegory where the "people of other races";are represented by chimpanzees, and even though it sides with the chimps that still reads as super racist to modern eyes.
