(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)Phone games get hacked all the time too, but they have from the beginning and honestly I don’t see that ever changing. But I also don’t view mobile gaming as being on the same level as console or PC.

(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)You can call it whatever you like, but it doesn't change that it's the same thing, simply used for different reasons

(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)So no, you don’t agree with me. Because there is nothing wrong with console commands. There is nothing wrong with mods. There is something wrong with hacking. And if OP meant cheat codes as shorthand for hacking, which seems most likely because the original form of cheat codes doesn’t exist anymore, then I disagree with them.

(Anonymous) 2024-08-19 04:52 am (UTC)(link)I've mostly seen hacking used in a multiplayer context, where it refers to getting an unfair advantage in the game by making it do something it’s not supposed to. Cast your eyes over this vintage meme for an example: https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/001/727/wtf_hax.jpg
You're the first person I've seen claim hacking means only avoiding paying for things.
On the subject of that sort of hacking, though, microtransactions are often on shaky moral ground to begin with, so I can’t be too mad at people who bypass them, even if I personally just pretend the stuff I'm supposed to pay more for doesn't exist.
