Ha ha I was just coming to post a similar rant! I think cheat codes are an example of human ingenuity, and if you want to use them, you should. If you don't, don't! The game is meant to be enjoyable and interesting to the player, and since players differ, their experiences are going to differ, too. You like to put Dead Space on hard, I would die in 5 seconds. Also, I have problems with flashing lights, so being able to mod those out is necessary for me to play some games at all.

Stardew Valley is my favourite example of this, where modding is a fun experience of its own.
