The thing that most people don't get is that you can be intellectually a genius but still a goddamn idiot. Like IQ doesn't mean shit if you don't actually use your brain or if you have zero functional or common sense.

I think he's like those AI bros who talk about getting jobs as 'Prompt Creators' or whatever, but the version with money. He's someone who's decided that he's an Idea Guy who thinks up super smart sounding ideas but unlike most of the obnoxious guys online who want to be Idea Guys, Musk has enough money to buy people who are smart enough to possibly make his idea real and then he takes all the credit for it. I don't think he's any smarter than most people, he just has the money to make big ideas happen and he portrays himself as a genius when all he's really doing is thinking up a thing and paying other people money to actually do the hard work of making it happen.

It's the same mindset that convinced a bunch of white bread Republican men that "We're Not Gonna Take It" is a Conservative anthem.

So basically, mediocre-to-poor media comprehension combined with an unwavering belief that everything they engage with is both for and about them and seasoned with a deep and unsubstantiated conviction that somehow, somewhere, they are being oppressed by Them.
