My first ever yaoi was actually at my local library lol - which was a random volume of Yellow that made teen me cry. I ended up getting the whole omnibus set a couple of years ago so that I could read the whole thing and found that if I had read this series from the beginning, I probably would have abandoned it before getting to the emotional wrecking part in the second series.
I sometimes read the newer stuff, but not as often as I use to because a lot of the newer yaoi is kind of boring from what I've found so far.

As for yuri, I remember having a really hard time trying to find any scanlation sites that had yuri way back around the late 2000s and then finding one in a Josei style that involved a woman who had gotten married but didn't enjoy sex and had started to work at a florist where she meets her to-be lover. It was definitely an older manga but I can't remember the title of it and the site I had read it on was deleted ages ago.

I have been thinking of looking into yuri manga again after watching a deep-dive video on the series Citrus that has tempted me to give the manga another try.
