I found out about yaoi during the era where the internet and phone shared the same line and you could use only one of them at a time. Were fan scanlations of yaoi/yuri available online? Yes. Were they absolute shit fan translations? Also yes.

I bought my yaoi manga from the bookstore and only suffered through the scanlations for stuff that was too obviously porny to order it from the elderly, grandpa-type owner of our local bookstore. I have a box of them somewhere in the basement, including Gravitation, Fake and Yellow.

The only one I would still recommend is Seven Days.

I only read yaoi. By the time I was also into f/f I wasn't really into manga anymore.
