I think the things that gets me the most about it is that Pearlman had clearly dialed into a particular zeitgeist, and was gifted at marketing -- but he just couldn't stop himself from fucking scamming the shit out of people at every turn.
I do actually wish, however, that the series was longer, and had gone into greater depth about the nature of his scams, how they were uncovered, and why the ungodly sums of money earned off the backs of his bands couldn't cover his debts. I finished it feeling as if there were still some gaps that needed to be filled. They gestured at his bad deal with BMG, but I'd have liked them to go more into the specifics.
