Yeah. I'm not a fan of the way they've (literally) painted the damn mountains, and it makes it hard for me to take anything about the main plot seriously. Not least because they seem to have decided that the appropriate dance style for the nation of war is breakdancing.

Minor spoiler

Also, my friend and I were mercilessly making fun of the way they resolved Kachina's quest in the story. I won't say more than that to avoid giving away details, but I'm getting tired of how cliche recent Genshin writing is, too. Arlecchino's been the high point of the past months for me, and before that, it was the Wanderer. Finding the long filler stretches are very dull anyway.

They have an in-game reason to paint practically everything, I mean graffiti is their main visual art thing. If you were in the area of Children Of Echoes quest, you can even tell where exactly in "real life" they got inspiration for it (phlogiston breaks in a mountain face).

Also, capoeira is a thing, so nothing out of the ordinary in their dance culture too.
I just don't see the reason for making fun here.

Yeah, I see capoeira in their dance moves too.

I think the biggest problem with Natlan is simple: Hoyo didn't drop any real hints or information about it (beyond like, "they have hot springs!" and "they're called the nation of war!") for almost four years. So that left people plenty of time to come up with their own conception of what that would mean. In general, what Hoyo has released doesn't seem to match up with anybody's made up preconception so it was pretty much predestined to not be satisfying to a large number of people. Especially those who got hung up on imagining it as a war torn nation covered in active volcanos and ash and whatever.

*dryly* Spinning on your head is not capoeira.

And I really could care less if they have "an in-game reason" for painting everything that holds still for too long. It still looks tacky to me.
