Damn, I’ve really got to try out Disco Elysium.

Honestly, do it. It's such a fantastic game.

Disco Elysium is one of those "complete package" games for me. Amazing dialogue, interesting story, well-written characters, beautiful art, and a stellar soundtrack. Whole thing has really stuck with me. The situation with ZA/UM was messy on all sides and so unfortunate.

It's so tragically poetic that what kept a proper sequel from happening were stoogy capitalists seeing dollar signs when presented with such a critically acclaimed potential IP to add to their portfolio. Capitalism breeds something, but it sure isn't innovation.

There are plenty of ways we could get another game like DE; gaming is rife with spiritual successors to IPs the creators wanted to work with but couldn't get the rights to. If the original makers of DE have more games in them, it could even be them that end up making one, but it's not like no one else could possibly imagine anything similar ever again.

And while it does look very unlikely that we'll ever get a SEQUEL, even that isn’t entirely out of the question. Kurvitz could regain the IP rights eventually somehow, or if not he could do a stealth sequel. Nature finds a way.

The situation is sad and messy but... I do not want a sequel, or a tv adaptation or anything else. DE (Final cut) was perfection as it was to me. I even frown at the new merch. But I love the game so, so much.

I get sad every time I'm thinking about it. Sure we may get some "inspired by DE" games, but I mourn the world/lore of the original Disco Elysium. It's so clear that there was so much more they could've told us, a lot of it. They could've done it for literal decades. Yet here we are.
I do understand that the management of ZA/UM only has money on their minds, but what are they gonna do now, after they fired all the original creators? Sure, they may have the dev logs and resources and stuff, but really? Up to an every high-involved writer?
I do know I'm not gonna play it, IF they'd manage to release anything at all, whenever.

Also, the simple fact that they can't fix obvious bugs in DE:FC even now, months later after release, yet do fancervice DLC. This studio is DEAD dead.
