(Anonymous) 2024-09-03 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)There are two types of asexual people - both don't feel sexual attraction, but while some are sex-repulsed there are also those who are just plain indifferent to sex. And both types can still feel ROMANTIC attraction to someone.
If an asexual person who is NOT sex-repulsed ends up in a romantic relationship with someone who isn't asexual, then of course they would have sex with their partner. After all, sex with your partner is an emotional need for those who aren't asexual, and even though I don't personally feel that way I can intellectually understand those feelings and the last thing I want to do is not meet my partner's emotional needs. To me, sex isn't repulsive, it's just no big deal and I get by just fine without it; however, it still FEELS good and it doesn't NEGATIVELY affect me.
Also, there unfortunately are those who are asexual but went with society's expectations to marry someone, and then end up having sex regularly with their spouse just because it's expected of them. You know, the asexual version of a gay guy marrying a girl because his family expected it of him.
