Things you started shipping in an adaption

[personal profile] philstar22 2024-09-04 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Is there any ship that you only started shipping with an adaption of something?

Just curious. Currently seeing a lot of influx of one of my two OTPs due to Rings of Power, and personally it is making me happy to see more fics get written and more shipping.

I ship/shipped John Watson/Sherlock Holmes in both the Ritchie!Verse and the BBC!Verse, but am largely indifferent to the ship in the ACD!Verse. (Admittedly, I've only read about half the ACD!Holmes short stories, and none of the novels, so it's possible I'd be moved to ship it more if I read more of the canon - but I feel like half of the short stories is enough to have gotten a reasonable clear picture of the character dynamics.)

I ship 2005 Pride & Prejudice Lizzie and Darcy much more strongly than I ship the characters in the novel or the BBC adaptation. I still ship them in the novel, and I do really like the novel, but the 2005 movie is the only version of them I ship in that HNNN MAKE THEM KISS kind of way.

One Piece I guess? Can't stand the anime but really enjoyed the live action show.

I've thought about checking out the live action version. Honestly, I know nothing about One Piece other than that I really love the song that came from it. Especially the version Colm McGuinness sings.

I liked manga when I read it some years ago. But LA is highly entertaining in itself! It's proper weird and fun

The only thing I knew about One Piece before watching the LA is that it existed, otherwise I had no context and I found the show to be really fun. So I'd certainly say it's worth giving it a go to see how you get along with it and if it doesn't click you can always stop watching.

Never liked the anime or manga, but I just love the live action and can't wait for the next season (don't let me down, Netflix).

Kinda the opposite of what the thread is for, but I somehow ship Zoro/Sanji even less in the LA than I do in the original. And I don't ship it in the original! But at least I can see where people are coming from.

Any time someone mentions shipping it in the LA I feel pranked.

I know the reboot movies of Star Trek get a lot of hate in the TOS fandoms, but they're the reason that I got into Spirk in the first place before really getting into the many Star Trek fandoms from that point forwards.

With that said I'm a multi-shipper so I got into both Spock/Kirk and McCoy/Kirk through AOS before I started checking out TOS Spirk; and eventually ended up liking Spock/McCoy and the vast majority of the femslash in TOS.

Same here. Never cared for shipping in the OG much (could see where it came from, tho) but those movies got me into their version of Spirk HARD.
