Favorite female youtubers

Favorite female youtubers of the educational/informational / practical skills category in particular?

Tons of music/arts/drama/theory ones out there that are easy to find, but looking for more "everyday/practical life skills" type stuff

Less of a what-to-do and more of a what-not-to-do, but Anne Reardon's debunking viral Tiktok cooking videos series is great. She shows you what they'd all look and taste like in reality, and most of it is unsurprisingly bad: https://www.youtube.com/user/howtocookthat

I also love how she's getting more and more pissed about youtube's unwillingness to stop promoting those 5minute crafts videos that have sent plenty of people to the hospital while videos warning about them (her's included) get restricted.

I would consider anti-MLM (multilevel marketing) to be in the realm of practical skills, as this content discusses how to determine if a company is an MLM along with things to look for in compensation plans. For that, I would say Hannah Alonso is the best. When The Antibot did anti-MLM content, she also provided practical tips on language to use when engaging with MLMers to mitigate defensive reactions.

Oh man, I LOVE her-- she's doing something important but her tone is very like... approachable and watchable?

Oh yes! Another bump for her, I found her channel a few months ago and I love watching her stuff, it's my fave 'background noise for doing other activities' type videos because I don't need to constantly watch and her voice is so soothing to listen to.

The Financial Diet is good.

TiffanyFerg does general random internet culture. I enjoy her vids.

Kaz Rowe (they're non-binary, not female. Interesting historical topics, though!)

Yes, I've used so many of her tips! I thought she was a woman using she/her, though, and it was her partner that is non-binary? I may be wrong!

WildBeare is a YouTuber who solo camps/stealth camps in the British countryside and recently did a challenge to find her way home after being randomly dumped 100km (she did it in like six days instead of the predicted 7/8).

I also follow Ruth Aisling bc I'm desperate to return to Scotland and she visits the remote corners.

Laura Kampf
https://www.youtube.com/@laurakampf/videos

She is an inventor of stuff, a carpenter, an electrician, a basic handyperson. She's German, and is currently on break from rescuing a 120 year old house (doing vids of building her new workshop in LA and etc). She's just so upbeat, competent, and cute! Geil!

Mercury Stardust, the Trans Handy Ma'am
https://www.youtube.com/@Mercury_Stardust/videos

She has great do-it-yourself tips for renters who might feel uncomfortable or even afraid of having the landlord or maintenance person coming into their home. She's also been a handyma'am for over 10 years, and currently bought her first home, and so is showing all the fun fixes and things she and her partner are having to do there.
Her tag line is 'You're worth the time it takes to learn a new skill!'. <3

And last - Uyen Ninh
https://www.youtube.com/@uyenninh/videos

She's not really teaching anything (mostly), but her vids with German Boyfriend (TM) and her family are adorable, and she does show sometimes how to make a food or do fun stuff like take the lid off a beer bottle with a chopstick.

Yes! She's just so fun and positive, even in the face of troubles, and German BF (TM) is a treasure.

Caitlin Doughty of Ask a Mortician! Her channel is a mix of historical documentaries, interviews with other people in the deathcare industry, explainer videos of various aspects of morticians' work, true crime (both contemporary and historical), death-related political topics, and practical advice.

Re: the practical advice, her channel was super helpful to me in figuring out my own end-of-life plan, and when my mom asked me for help finding an eco-friendly funeral option for herself, I knew just what to search for in her area and the questions I should ask the funeral homes I called for her. (She's still alive, btw, but she's all set for when she does die--the local university will get the use of her body for scientific research, and then her remains will undergo alkaline hydrolysis, aka water cremation, at a reputable and very affordable funeral home in her city.)
