I liked the 1985 Anne of Green Gables TV mini-series and the 1987 sequel, which was CBC produced. And Road to Avonlea, which I only watched some episodes of since it didn't have Anne, was decent too. So, I think they can do a good job (I don't have an opinion on Anne with an E - I didn't watch because Megan Follows is set in my mind as Anne).

Very much the same. Megan Follows is Anne for me. I do enjoy Road to Avonlea, though. But Anne with an E, just no. Although, I'm honestly more annoyed with their characterization of Matthew than of Anne.

The original two miniseries were great. The third in 2000 is... less so. I think it was a bad idea to deviate so far from the books and even the original cast doesn't really save it for me. I haven't seen Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning and couldn't comment.

Anne with an E is a different thing altogether and really changes the whole tone of the story and characters too much for my taste.

I’m just surprised it’s never been made into a movie or miniseries.

It only went into public domain a few years ago, iirc.

Anne with an E cast an Irish actress though?

I'm a little less concerned about casting and more concerned with the tendency to want to change the adaptation for a modern audience... which in this day and age, seems to be about upping the angst and trauma. (See: Anne with an E) I don't want that for The Blue Castle.
