He was so good in North and South! I also loved Daniela Denby-Ashe as the female lead, and was disappointed to not see her in a bunch of big projects, too. She's one of my favorite period drama heroines of all time.

He won an award for his role in Hannibal(tv).

He's just so pretty. I wasn't attracted to him as Thorin, but in RL he's gorgeous. Also, he's a great actor.

Ditto. I was happy he got such a big role (though yeah, the movies were... well.) but Thorin has very little physical appeal to me with all the wig and prosthetics. He's got such striking looks and... that voice!

I thought his voice acting in Castlevania was a huge highlight. I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as much without his snark.

+1

He was fantastic (and hot) in that :D

I'd forgotten about Castlevania, but absolutely agreed.

I get it. I thought the same at first. He seems to prefer keeping close to home and only traveling to America or Canada for short stints, which is where the majority of major productions are filmed.

Yeah, he seems to pick the roles he WANTS to do, and I really admire that.

You think he sits at home and goes, "Gosh, what I'd REALLY like to do is star in a bunch of crime/thriller adaptations for Netflix?" My guess is that the work isn't bad, it's in the UK (and as someone else noted, he seems to prefer staying at home vs. moving to Hollywood) and it pays the bills. There's no shame in that, lots of British actors take all sorts of roles to pay the bills, it's perfectly legit.

I hear you. There are a couple of actors I wish had much bigger Hollywood careers just so I could see more of them, but they seem happy with the careers they have. Armitage is great, I would like to see him in everything. Sometimes I rewatch his episodes of Vicar Of Dibley because he was so sweet in that!
