Thank you for making my secret <3

Also this obviously means that I STILL want happy endings no matter what! Making it work somehow. An F/F ship marrying a M/M ship for example. Or Idk living in the woods. Something.

Agree with this secret.

I just...want realism in historical fiction. Not horrible outcomes like people being arrested for "deviancy" because that just makes me mad, but people having to be subtle etc. I like.

Agreed. I like queernorm things set in the future, or fantasy, but what i really crave is acknowledgment of queer realities now. And I like struggle in my romance arcs.

So OP, do you mean you want them to change other things in set in the past or do you not want Queerness to be normalized?

I go back and forth. Sometimes I want the romance in the setting without the drama, and then when I binge on that I'll flip and want the drama and the more realistic depictions.

Sidenote: this is a beautiful image.

OP

Ya, if they change lots of things about it aka a genuine alternate history, that's fine! Or if it's ONLY the queerness that changed, then tell me why. The church is still there? Queerness is fine but racism has not changed at all? Misogyny is alive and well? Kings can only marry women because of the succession or?????

IDK I think this is just a preference like any other and it shouldn't have to be a secret. Both styles are valid!

I think the thing I like most about this secret is teaching me the word "queernorm." I like this and I want to see it get widespread.

I don't mind it if other forms of prejudice are also gone in the past version of our world. But if it's queernorm but racism and sexism and stuff still exist, that just feels weird.
