I'm sick of "celebrity" voice actors in animation these days, especially if they are stand up comedians. Can't they just hire actual voice actors instead? It is a specialised field.

Oh my god, same. It's okay once in a while, or if the role was tailor made for the celeb, but otherwise no. IMO if you're going to voice act, you should have to do a bit of training before they let you do a movie. Like, I shouldn't be able to recognize your speaking voice in a lot of roles.
