"The Great Transition" hits more booktok YA parody notes than most YA books. From the shifting viewpoints and time skips, to the "mystery" that isn't really that mysterious, to the biracial, psychologically-troubled teenage girl who was clearly written by a middle-aged white dude, it's all just a little much. Secret because people in certain circles act like you burn tires and shoot baby whales for fun if you don't love this book.
