This only works for TV shows that are shallow and padded to hell and back, any decently paced show would never work as a 2 hour movie as too much would have to be stripped to fit the run-time.

the problem we generally have with the current state of tv series on streaming is that no one is calling a 10-episode run what it is: a miniseries. Some could have been better movies, some could have been better tv series if they were 15-20 episodes, but the miniseries is a valid form. Just, no one is calling a short-ass season of a show that gets cancelled by Netflix a miniseries. It might be better if it was, especially if Netflix knew before putting it up that they weren't going to renew it.

Short seasons isn’t a miniseries.

This. They're two entirely separate things.

da

I'm not understanding the distinction you two are trying to make.

We know. It’s spelled out so clearly yet you still can’t distinguish between an open ended narrative and an encapsulated story. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. There are several people here who are very loud and proud about their inability to understand this simple concept.

Ah yes, everything in the world can be adequately attributed to your having a functioning brain, and other people being sorely defective in that regard.

I wrote the comment you replied to before I'd seen that people went into what their point was in more depth downthread, and didn't have time to comment again.

I’ll be honest: I think anyone in fandom who doesn’t intrinsically grasp the difference between a tv show and a miniseries is an idiot. Maybe some of it is down to commenters going off the hilariously stupid first comment but it’s honestly strange to me that the overwhelming majority of comments ITT are about a format that isn’t included in the secret.
