During the heyday of Homestuck I remember people completely losing their shit when some character who was (I guess) lesbian in canon was made bisexual in fan fiction, because that was "erasure." The MASSIVE pissfests that used to happen even on this very comm about it, oy vey.

I’m thinking of a time long before Homestuck but I think it was probably still batshit, just not as loud and typically contained to a couple LJ comms. Things didn’t spill over into real life like they do now.
