I'm not vegan
I'm not even vegetarian
but if there's a vegan contestant on a baking show I always root for them because I know it's harder.

I do get this, but I also can't help the little bit of schadenfreude when a contestant who insists that their vegan version of creme brulee is exactly like the real thing gets shot down.

They brought it on themselves, really. The only reason vegans, particularly extreme vegans, go on these sort of shows is to try and evangalize how supposedly much better their perfect way is. They always fall short, and if they were honest they knew already they were going to, because substitutes are no substitute.

The thing is, when vegan food is allowed to be itself instead of fake non-vegan food, it can be be very good in its own right. But the "you'll never guess it's not real" recipes are usually just kind of sad.
