Cartoon characters who behave cartoonishly are more removed from reality than other characters. For some people, that makes it hard to take fandom activities involving them, like shipping, seriously. For other people, it makes the activities easier because the cartoonish incel doesn't act like a real incel and the cartoonish violent girl doesn't act like a real abuser.
