So I'm guessing you're 14 to think a 37 year old is "middle aged"?

Over 35 has been the accepted definition of middle-aged for about 200 years at this point. Sorry if that makes you feel old.

Huh, really? I thought it was 40+ since forever. That's why the big 4-0 is so dreaded by some. People talking about being middle aged in their 30s were obviously jokes to me.

Then again I live in a big city with one of the highest average first-marriage ages in the US at almost-30, so... maybe it depends on where you're from.

Or how old you are. Most millennials wouldn't call 35 middle aged. But older people might, because 35 was middle aged for their parents.
