[Planet of The Apes]

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Thinking about it too hard, imo. Maybe you're just not into apes.

As an outside observer I figure the lack of people with primates as personas in the furry community is for the same reason. It's too close to human and hits uncanny valley.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-08 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone in the furry community I can confirm is for that reason: You might find apes, of course, but yiff art with them? Not much. People seems to prefer animals not close to humans.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-09 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Lemurs tend to be the most common ape furry anyway since they're less human-looking than average. Mad respect to people who do have monkey fursonas that aren't cartoony, though.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-09 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Come on man, you're right but nobody uses the term yiff any more. It's been out of use except by newbies and non-furs for over half a decade.

Greymuzzles / the 40+ crowd use it. It should be brought back, it was a fun word.

+1

Even fully sentient apes come off closer to bestiality than monsterfucking, so it's not surprising it still hits a subconscious squick. No judging from this monsterfucker, especially if the movie characters move and speak like "live action Lion King" apes instead of "starting to catch up on the evolutionary scale" apes.

Yeah-- there are aliens and monsters I like, furry stuff, etc, but apes just feels OFF.

Slightly off topic, but do you know any good jokes like that?

Before Tracer from Overwatch got a girlfriend, I used to ship her with Winston.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-09 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I still ship Winston with Mei, TBH. Science power couple.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-09 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it definitely squicks me out more than other human/monster-y pairings, I guess from the uncanny valley and realistic resemblance to an existing animal. That said no judgement for shipping whatever, and I get why the squicky/taboo/uncanny part would actually be the appeal for some. But I definitely have a kneejerk "ewwww" response.

I'd be down with it if the CGI didn't look like IRL apes. If it was animated or a comic book, and the apes were stylized? Sure. It's not immoral, but I'd pass on this one.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-09 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god someone made my comment a secret, lol! This is a first for me.

Just to clarify: I am a monsterfucker. My first movie crush as a kid was from Hellboy (2004) (I am NOT saying which character). I am now 30 and and have for years followed the belief that as long as as the partner is a) on a range of intelligence near to or equal to human intelligence and b) able to consent, then who cares - that included characters that look like Earth animals (think the more animal-like Mink characters in One Piece). I've never applied it to CGI/realistic talking animals, however... That's why the new Ape movies really tripped me up, haha.

(Anonymous) 2024-10-09 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
in the case of CGI/realistic animals, it's just a squick for me. not immoral (although fanart that's similarly realistic might be crossing a line) but i'll have to pass. this is from someone who shipped pokemon (lucario, mewtwo, etc.) with trainers in high school, so it's not like it's a frontier i've never been in! just...not like this.

I dunno I found Helena Bohnam Carter in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes hot, sooo....

i simply don't think the apes in pota have any rizz, yes including caesar

(Anonymous) 2024-10-10 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
I despise monkeys. Bestiality is fine, but... humans don't really have the kind of long-standing relationship of domestication and animal husbandry as we do with dogs (i love werewolves :D), cattle, cats, etc... there is no basis for it beyond all the shit with Koko the gorilla and chimps tearing off faces, etc.
