Yeah. I'm not very old at all (I'm 30), but when I was younger I was acquainted with older people my mother's age who increasingly became more Like That the more online they became. Not to sound like an old man yelling at cloud boomer but I wonder if it's social media and Facebook being most adults main socialization, since third spaces have been slowly disappearing (if not entirely after Covid).

I think that's certainly part of it. I'm not sure that's the entire answer, mostly because I have seen a few other things become factors as of late. Scheduling tends to be a hurdle, especially for the middle aged crowd. While some third spaces are open, their hours are more condensed, which can make in person gathering a logistical headache. And that's assuming many of these older adults can even get to such third spaces. This is especially tricky in outer ring suburbs and rural areas where clear walking paths/good public transport are hardly available. I also think that some of the people they're closest to emotionally tend to be far away physically. I know that's the case for me.
