What are your favorite and least favorite canon ships?

Also, are there any canon ships you like in theory but hate how they actually played out?

Least: Blasphemous, but I never cared for Scully/Mulder being canon. I think it ruined something of their dynamic and the enjoyment of the show for me. But I also think at the time I was losing interest in the show anyway so it could have just been the final straw situation.

Buttercup/Wesley are my top canon couple probably.

oh not blasphemy, I totally agree. I've been doing a rewatch and they are so much better as legit best friends. the early-season attempts to make them romantic too fast are ham-fisted and stupid.

I love the idea of Spike/Dru but I don't care for how it played out. I wish they hadn't made Spike a regular, I think it really ruined his character. I liked them as the evil crazy power couple.

Everything about Spike and Dru from their first season was amazing. I like Spike in later seasons as well, but he was never as good as he was in his first season.

I love them together. I do also ship Spike with Buffy. But Spike and Dru is my favorite Spike ship. They were just so excellent together. I don't love how their relationship was ended, though, even if I do like Spike/Buffy.

Natasha/Bruce I was intrigued by, but it played out like a forced dumpster fire and I wish I could at least erase that part of AoU.

Least fav: Cosima/Delphine (Orphan Black). I never felt Delphine really deserved another chance, I love problematic queer characters as much as anyone else in the fandom but she crossed *lines* I was not okay with. (But I'm apparently the only one who feels that way...)

Least: Steve/Peggy in the MCU, and the way it played out made it infinitely worse.

Most: Scott Free/Big Barda in DC comics.

I feel you on your least fav, nonny.

Steve/Peggy went from "okay, kind if sweet" to "fuck I hate it kill it with fire" at the end.

I loved Steve/Peggy in the first Captain America movie. And I love it as a ship that was great when it lasted but was over. I hate how they made him go back to her, though.

Favorite: Naruto and Hinata

Least Favorite: Ichigo and Orihime. I do like them in theory, but it always felt one-sided until they were suddenly married with a kid

Transformers has a pretty solid streak with canon relationships in my opinion. The most negative I would go are ships that I didn't ship or didn't particularly like becoming canon, like BDKO, but won't argue that they are portrayed badly, just personal meh. Chromedome/Rewind is pretty great, Lug/Anode is pretty good too...

Some people argue heavily against OPLita, they haven't been an actual and official thing in canon for a good while, I personally don't think you have to divorce her from OP in every way to make her a solid character on her on, but we didn't really get to see them much in the G1 either so.

I really liked John/Aeryn, both in theory and in terms of how it ended up playing out. Also Wangxian (in the show, I've never read the novels), and Kataang (I thought it was obvious they were going to end up together? they had the most compatibility).

I agree with anon above that Mulder/Scully was great in theory but not in practice, but how terrible it was in its execution versus theory doesn't hold a candle to how badly House/Cuddy wound up playing out.

Oh gosh, I only watched the first season or so of House I had no idea House/Cuddy ended up being a canon ship. I shudder at the thought.

yeah, it was handled terribly.

Oh god yes to House/Cuddy. That and Booth/Brennan are my two biggest ships where I loved them until they became canon and now hate them.

Least fav is MCU Steve/Peggy. I hated the end of Steve’s story arc.

Most fav right now? Edwin/Charles from Dead Boy Detectives. It is such a sweet ship!

One of my least faves is definitely Jane/Lisbon from The Mentalist, which is doubly funny to me as I shipped it in fanon but it never felt like it made sense in canon and honestly felt like producer meddling when it actually happened. I don’t hate, hate it though, I just didn’t like it much.

One of my faves is Rick/Evie, they’re great, and some K-drama main couples who are sweet and adorable.

Favorite canon: Finn/Poe in SW. (What do you mean it's not canon? I have no idea what you're talking about. Disney said gay co-general life partner rights.)

Not a fan: Carisi/Rollins in L&O:SVU. I never, ever wanted them to get together, but the SVU writers really didn't want her to be alone or him to be bi, huh... They were good as friends, and I think they would've been great as friends if Rollins supported Carisi nearly as much as he supported her.

Least favorite: Ichigo/Orihime. I cared way too much about UlquiHime to ever get behind it.

Favorite: tough, but Sasuke/Sakura, as they've been my favorite ship since maybe 2004, we can just ignore Boruto as a whole.

In theory, I should like Alphen/Shionne in Tales of Arise. I thought I would! In practice Arise was terribly written and I despise what they did with Shionne throughout the story.
