I suspect sometimes they're the worst kind of accelerationists. "If Trump wins it'll all collapse-- and we can rebuild it!", blithely ignoring the collateral damage and no doubt overestimating themselves as badly as the right-wing nutjobs who look forward to an apocalypse where their guns will make them the mighty warlords they fap about being.

honestly, I think you have it. accelerationists on either side are some of the biggest idiots who think they can rebuild society perfectly while having no idea how to actual do it. Please, do not advocate for a cleansing apocalypse, it won't be as neatly-accomplished as your chosen favorite scifi novel.

da

yyyyyyyyyup. Things'll be chaotic for decades, maybe even a hundred years or so. I don't think that will be better than what we have now.

Certainly not in their lifetime

The most frustrating part is that this is the same attitude they had in 2016. That was supposedly why they didn't vote, or voted for Trump. And then 2020 came around and they STILL weren't satisfied with the candidate the Democrats put up, so they had that same attitude again.

And now here it is, 2024, and oh, look, they aren't happy with Harris, either. I suppose tehy think third time of "let it burn!" will finally be the charm? I just wonder how many times they plan to go through this song and dance before they either get their perfect unicorn of a candidate or finally clue in to the fact that this mindset is an absolutely terrible way to go about addressing these issues.

The people saying this now had BETTER be 18 years old and too young to really remember the fact that this was the argument some lefties made for Trump THE FIRST TIME AROUND. Jesus.

yeah the college students I've seen on the local news talking up all the acceleration points are barely 18-20. None of them were adults in the beforetimes, some of them were probably busy curating their myspaces when everyone else was old enough to vote. binch I've been paying taxes longer than you've been alive, trust me that there is more going on than you'll ever reduce to a twitter-length post.

unfortunately i've seen people going "no guys voting third party will definitely work THIS time!" who were not too young to remember 2016.

fuck them and fuck susan sarandon.
