I don't usually tvtropes but I glanced over the article; the inherent description is "exploring how else the world might be in the existence of such a factor" i.e. if you can create food and water why aren't you solving world hunger. By that metric, deconstructing a happy kids' cartoon series does not automatically mean making it grimdark, and anyone who insists that genuinely exploring the plot holes would turn even Wizard of Oz into a dystopian nightmare is wholly missing the point.
