Speaking as a woman, I do agree with you in that I'd like to read more women-focused stories. To be honest, men get enough representation in literally every damn thing. Why do our POVs not matter? Seriously, ladies, even in this century we clearly still have a lot of work to do.

I like reading woman-focused stories that aren't about shipping and romance and sex. I read a lot of books, and almost all of them are written by women and have female protagonists. (A lot of those books have a romantic plot in them anyway, and that's fine as long as it doesn't overtake the story. If it does, I drop the book.) That wasn't even a conscious choice; I noticed it one day by looking at my Goodreads lists. But I don't do fanfic or fandom for those books, because fandom always ends up being mostly shipping and I'm not interested in shipping the female characters I like. I'm just not.

I like reading and watching about women but I prefer shipping men, it's not that complicated

Yep, this. I just want to see the boys kiss.

As a bi women, I read both gay and lesbian shippy fics (less often straight for some reason). But that is because I'm into both men and women. Straight women are more likely to want to read shippy stuff that just involves men. I don't think that is weird.
