I genuinely don't even understand what people are complaining about these days re: inflation. Like, yeah, my grocery bill went up a lot during COVID, but it's come way back down now that prices on a lot of things have also come back down. It's more than it used to be but it's not THAT bad anymore.

The problem is a lot of people truly can't accept that prices are never going back to pre-pandemic levels. They think that somehow if Biden had only done [insert thing here] groceries would go back to being what they were in 2019. They think that Trump will somehow fix it, and don't realize that while yes the US had inflation it was ultimately much worse in other places and Biden should be praised for that. (And honestly I don't think the Democrats did enough to emphasize this, probably because they didn't want to admit the truth re: prices will never go back down to pre-pandemic levels.)

Have they just... not been living in reality...? Because prices ALWAYS go up. Hell, I remember when I used to be able to buy a Coke from a vending machine for $1. It ain't $1 anymore and it hasn't been that for years but I don't hear anyone complaining about THAT.

Running on a ticket of Just Accept It was never going to be an election winner though. Democrats keep bringing a more of the same candidate to weed need radical changes elections. The only reason Biden won last time was because he was a piece of dry white toast that made some older Republicans comfortable with staying home. Harris didn't even have that going for her.

But why is this particular instance of prices going up upsetting people when prices go up all the time and no one ever seems to care? That's the part I don't get.

Prices go up. It's a part of life. It's annoying, sure, but not a big deal.
