I don't think the art style is horrendous at all, so that helps.

Some of my favourite animes growing up where OG Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump. The art style of early One Piece doesn't look that far off from early Toriyama to me, so that probably helped too.

Ironically though, one of the reasons why I never bothered watching Episode of East Blue, which I think the secret picture is from, is because I dislike the art style. It makes the characters look flat and lifeless to me. But I love the nostalgic feel of the old anime episodes, so the movie remakes don't really interest me.
