Do you use it? I was heavy into Tumblr for a long time until 2021. I made GIFsets (some quite popular) and all that. Just looked at my old account because I'm thinking of getting back into it since it was a great place to find recs, fandom discourse, and great art. Deciding if I should go through and delete some of my 12,000 reblogs, just let them stay, or start a whole new account. But then I'd have to reupload all my gifsets. :(

I like the LOTR soundtracks, they are decent. But they could have been better. There are parts that are amazing, but parts that just don't hold up to how awesome the rest of the movie is.

There are plenty of better scores than these three. Lion King. Pirates of the Caribbean. Gladiator. How to Train Your Dragon. Star Wars. Jurassic Park. Schindler' List. Actually everything John Williams has ever done is amazing.

I agree. Then again, Aladdin's best songs are Prince Ali and Friend Like Me. Whole New World is just okay.

Making peace with Trump voters in our lives (or not)

Two extended family members voted for Trump. I need to say that these people have been instrumental in my life; I've been through things that could have been even worse were they not there. They're otherwise nice, kind, GOOD PEOPLE. And yet, they voted for Trump. I'm finding it incredibly difficult to reconcile, to forgive.

Anyone else dealing with this?

I have to say I'm in a little better place today. Got past the shock and horror and grief. He can't just deport everyone right away, he still will have to follow the law to at least an extent. There are things that can be done to stand up to him. And immigration attorneys can still help their clients. It is going to be difficult, depressing work, but we should at least be able to help some.

I use it! I'd just resurrect your old one, as having an established account makes it less likely that you'll be mistaken for a bot and blocked by anyone whose posts you reblog or like. Do check your Visibility settings, especially if you're outside the EU, though, as they might scrape it for AI training otherwise.

Someone who I respected, who has brought us a lot of cases, told me yesterday he voted for Trump. And that he thought Harris was horrible and would have been awful for the country. My mind is boggled. This guy brings us immigration clients. He cares about immigrants. And he's a defense attorney. Yet he voted for Trump. I just don't get it.

I use it. Not as much as I used to, but I have an account and still post sometimes. The largest part of the Tolkien fandom is on there. And I have some nice friends on there. I just don't have the time I used to, but when I find the time I go back.

I love the LOTR soundtracks less for the actual music and more how it's used - it really was composed for the journey the film took you on, instead of telling you how you should feel about a certain scene by blasting you with sad violins or loud intense drums.
