I was a Tobias girl, but I'm exactly the same. I still kind of want to name my son that, if I ever have one. But I'd be terrified of someone making the connection, and realizing why I love the name so much.

*blinks* Did I make a secret while I was asleep? Because I feel exactly the same way (except the kid naming thing). I was completely in love with Jake, and though the graphics for him were very hot.

When I went back to read them, though, I found it was Tobias and Ax who took up all my love. They were just a pair of woobies who needed a hug. :D

Aww, man, now I'm going to have to go around fielding accusations that this was me. I adore Jake, though Tobias has my hawk-loving heart.

(And I would vote Jake for president over anyone. Ever.)

Ugggh. MFinYES. I was another more Tobias girl, but those two boys were my absolute favorites. This Jake and the Dark Tower Jake (as I read both at the same time I think) were two of my first uber fandom crushes. No regrets. Tobias still wins out though :3

And whoever mentioned Jake for President...uh, yes. Emotional/psychological tauma and all.

I crushed on Tobias for YEARS. I would still name a kid Tobias (I'd say it wasn't after him, but... who would I be kidding, it totally would be).

Yes! Oh my god! I absolutely loved Jake. Him, Marco, and Rachel were my faves. And this totally isn't nerdy at all! I'm 21 now and I still want to name one of my kids after an Animorph (darn you, KA, for affecting me so greatly in my formative years).

And yeah, I have to admit, I'd still hit it. He's just such a badass. How could I resist?

I was always a Jake girl...and an Ax girl. Hmm...I don't know what that says about me, but I loved Ax. Re-reading though I'm definitely more about Jake.

I think that "naming-your-child-after-favourite-character" thing is quite a common thing, actually. Just think about all the pets who have names that obviously are fandom-related, and consider the fact that "Jake" would be a pretty common name anyway! More people could be doing this than you think!

God those books were awesome! I never made it the whole way through the series- I'm one of those people who hates to watch/read things out of order, and my library didn't have... #28, I think?... so now I'll just pick them up whenever I find them and keep reading. It'll probably take me another decade but I'd like to finish the series.

And hey, if anyone DOES recognize where you got the name from, it'd probably be because they're a fan, too. :)

My second born son WILL be Jake. My first born son will be Tobias, who was always my favorite. I considered going for Rachel for my first daughter...but then I considered the reprocussions about ship naming...

You think that's strange? When I was little, I was in love with Ax. I refused to read the books before the 8th one, because Ax either wasn't in them or faded into the background. I would constantly daydream about being his andalite girlfriend or being the human girlfriend that makes him doubt whether he wants to go back to his people after the war's over or become a human nothlit after the war's over all for me. I'm 20 years old and there's a part of me that still loves him, but now I have more appreciation for the other characters.
