Question to americans

(Anonymous) 2024-11-11 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
What is a usual time you wake up?
(I am just seeing way too many videos telling how 4:30 is the best the most natural time to wake up. I am calling bullshit but I am curious)

Between 6:30 and 7. Out of the door by 8.

I don't agree at all. Not only because I work an off-shift schedule, but because all people utilize their time differently.

I have to be at work by 11:00 PM so I set my alarm for 8:30 PM, fight with getting up the entire time and am out the door at the latest 10:00 PM. Takes me about 45 minutes to get to work, but I give myself 15 extra minutes just in case something comes up and I'll still have plenty of time to be at work on time.

On my weekends, I'm usually up around 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM.

In terms of waking up to have enough time to get ready for the day, I tend to believe waking up 2-3 hours before needing to leave the house is most ideal. At least an hour is needed to get up, clean up, use restroom, get dressed, get organized, focus on getting ready for the day.
Add in extra time for possible unforseen setbacks.
Add in any other extra time for any tasks you may want to do before heading out to work.

I personally try not to fit in any non-at-home tasks/chores before work because that sort of shit tends to bite me in the ass.
Get up, get ready, maybe eat something quick and easy, then leave for work.
I can't imagine doing something like get up, go out to the gym, come back home, get ready for work, go to store to buy food for work, get gas, head to work.
Like, going to the gym, getting gas, and going to the store before work? I'd be so drained already by the time I have to work, likely running into the dumbest fucking minor inconveniences that forces me to feel rushed to get to work and likely I'd end up being late.

AYRT
I am a bit earlier riser but absolutely same! I need couple of hours to get comfortably ready (shower, breakfast, cleaning after cats etc). And I absolutely not doing gym/going somewhere if I don't need to. I am tired just thinking about it

I did used to get up around 4:30 when I would do cardio out in the neighborhood before work. These days though, I tend to take up somewhere between 6:30 and 7:30.

Work days 5:45. Days off I don't set an alarm but I naturally wake up between 6-7am.

Anything before 5am is ridiculous to me.

6ish on work days, 7-11am on non work days.

Those 0430 weirdos are trying to sell you something. Probably meth because how else can you survive on such little sleep?

Yeah I've got the same feeling lol. This 4:30 thing seems like some capitalist bullshit. But I've been seeing some glimpse of this culture even in fanfics and I've became curious

You'd have to head to bed at like 8pm to get up that early. Those are little kid bedtime numbers. It's not even dark at 8pm during the summer (where I live at least) it's just nonsense. I mean, if it works for you that's great! But we cannot pretend it's some "hack".

We don't even have little kids that go to bed this early! (usual time for kids is around 9 — 9-30) And in summer it looks like middle of the day (I am pretty up north)
