I know a porn writer who did that. They get pissed off whenever someone asks where to find those stories. I think it’s a lot of emotional effort to expend on something that would be easier to just ignore.

Kudos and bookmarks are still engagement! Maybe they're not as gratifying as the steady flow of comments, but they are proof that you held somebody's attention and they reacted positively to what they read!

It might feel like you're lowering your expectations, but a decent-to-good kudos/bookmark count can be satisfying, too, especially considering how few fics get either. I've seen the statistics, and the average fanfic is lucky to receive more than a handful of kudos. So much so that getting twelve kudos means your fic is a hit. Most don't get a single bookmark.

I absolutely love the picture chosen for this secret. It os cracking me up.

Not sure how/if it works on mobile, but there are skins/ add-ons/etc where you can block stats like kudos. I know other authors that have issues with them and basically block everything but comments.

Personally I love all forms of engagement. And some days I even prefer a kudos to a comment, because I am just weird like that.

The Thing (1982) is a remake that passed the original so much that most people don't know it's a remake.

I really enjoyed The Ring remake. I think they did a great job with it. I also think The Dawn of The Dead remake is the best movie Zack Snyder has ever done.

For non horror, I really enjoyed the True Grit from 2010.

Same! I've never really understood the obsession with comments and seei g kudos as lesser, but I get that we all have different anxieties.
