What non-fandom sites do you visit for reading random stuff and news?

I mean places like boredpanda.com or buzzfeed.

Well, it's not full of child sexual abuse images. So yeah, it isn't worst.

I have NEVER seen a single example of child porn on either twitter or 4chan.

Ive seen /some/ bullying on twitter.

But I come here every night and to see cruelty and abuse (wrapped in moderator approved language) that would make 2000's era cyberbullies blush. This community can be fun sometimes but its westworld fun, where your having fun KNOWING that the pure malice on display really shouldnt be allowed to flourish.

just because people here aren't part of your particular flavor of political echo chamber does not somehow make it worse than actual child pornography but whatever helps you sleep at night

I am sad to admit this, but reddit and facebook. Though tbf facebook is not news, just keeping up with family and local groups.

apnews.com
Reuters.com

MSNBC.com
My local newspaper’s website.

I set a timer or I can lose an entire day reading the news. I give myself 40 minutes per day.

Both those would be ones I seek. I also often just do google news generally and then it gives me both actual news and links to fandom sorts of articles and such.

I get a lot of non-fannish stuff syndicated onto here; WTF Just Happened Today is a news roundup without much shock & awe. Lowering the Bar gives some truly bizarre crimes. I can't spend too much time on Not Always Right (as in, the customer is not always right in matters of behavior or entitlement, even if the customer is always right in matters of taste) but it's got random stuff levels in excess of Bored Panda

Independent online leftist newspaper for news. I don't really look for random stuff.
