Yeah, I don't care if some random person has long nails but I do care if they're making food or providing medical care! Fortunately most hospitals ban them for staff.

People got so upset when they were banned at a childcare center I worked at awhile ago. They (the employees) kept saying they had no right to "police their body" like it is not totally unhygienic to be changing diapers and dealing with gross kids stuff, plus they kept scratching the kids accidently.

AYRT Yeah, I work at a hospital and they were banned ages ago, but every now and then there's a new staff member (or student) who is shocked! appalled! that this is the rule. One of them complained that the doctor who was running her program had heaps of tattoos so why was it not okay to have long nails?

nayrt - Appalling. I don't know how people get old enough to hold down a job, but still so clueless that they don't realize super long nails aren't compatible with any job that requires use of your hands and manual labor.

The employees don't realize they're going to get poop underneath their nails?!?!? :P
