I remember way back when we did this dance with Shrub, and right wing SFF fans getting upset by it claiming that JMS was deliberately creating a show that slandered him. Then them getting upset when the show's airdates were pointed out to them. We did this already back in the dial up days. Now we've got to do it all again. People just don't learn.

Palpatine is way, way too smart to be Bush. I can see Nixon. But honestly he really just reads like a devil figure. Other Star Wars villains seem like good metaphors for real life evil people. But he just seems like the devil.
