I had one. I did some googling beforehand and thought I would be able to sit on a chair backwards but no, they asked me to curl into a ball on a narrow hospital bed. But it went well, I cursed at the pain but a nice nurse stroked my shoulder while the doctor did the tap. I asked to see the fluid sample afterwards :D

The headache afterwards was intense tho. I was told that caffeine helps with it so I drank energy drinks (and lots of water.) Be prepared to be out of commission the next day at least. My sister who had the same procedure went to get relief for her headache the following day, (I don't remember what it was, some sort of injection maybe?) but I just stayed home and slept.

All in all, it was scary, but the tap itself was over quickly! Best of luck for you <3
