Thanks for making my secret, secret maker! Ahh, the pic you chose reminds me I still haven't seen the movie's take on Nessarose. Last time I saw the show I was really wishing her scenes were longer or that she had a song with Elphaba!

Having read the book before the musical...Man, I just can't get into the shipping. The weird family dynamics are WAY more interesting. The wizard? Nessa? Shell? Turtle Heart? All the Thropp craziness? That's more intriguing than whatever Elphaba and Glinda had going on.

The family dynamics in the book are complex and interesting for sure. I think a lot of the themes and plot went over my head when I was younger!

LOL, my opinion on Nessarose is always strangely colored by two things. In the book, she's a priggish asshole who later turns into a fundamentalist, basically ruling Munchkinland with an iron fist to the point that even her father thinks she's gone too far. In the musical, she (accidentally) turns Boq into an automaton in a rage because she doesn't want him to leave her.
