the U.S. doesn't have enough affordable housing to house them all, or enough homeless shelters. we have ENOUGH homeless Americans that we can't find room or jobs for.
i repeat: we have no responsibility to take in everyone that sails across the borders. send them somewhere else that has the housing and the room.

But it also has enough empty housing to house all the unhoused in America and then some. So it is not a supply issue, it is an availability issue. Maybe if unhoused people were simply given a home instead of made to participate in what is essentially a game show challenge made by capitalism, that issue would just go away.

Agreed on housing homeless Americans in empty housing.

Why can't housing and rent just be cheaper and people can only own at least two homes, and the min wage raised, then? The main reason I'm skeptical of mass immigration in Texas is because we have a housing crisis and nost jobs already pay dirt even if you're a citizen, but there are pretty obvious solutions to that.

Again, I'm not getting into that argument. This isn't about that. This is about Texas trying to do something the constitution says it can't do and about treating humans humanely.

If we started actually properly taxing the wealthy and businesses, we'd totally have enough.

OP anon agreeing with you.

We have enough housing. Companies like BlackRock need to be dissolved or heavily regulated, and corporations should be banned from owning single family homes. Stop blaming migrants for housing not being affordable.

(Anonymous) 2024-12-02 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously. Most migrants are exploited and paid dirt too, where are they getting money to buy these expensive homes that are being taken away? (Hint: The problem is rich people.) I'm a lower class legal citizen and even working full time on a low minimum wage isn't enough to move out. Immigrants aren't taking shit from me, we're both treated as mules.

(Anonymous) 2024-12-03 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed on both being treated as low-paid pawns.

(Anonymous) 2024-12-02 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It would if we cracked down on shit like Air BNB.

(Anonymous) 2024-12-03 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
I agree.
