I'm this close to no longer mentioning that I'm an anti in fandom spaces I frequent, only because each time, it triggers the same unskippable cutscene.

"So you condone harassment over fiction?"
No. I think that's awful. I just block people.

"Then you're not a REAL anti!" Well, I self-identify as an anti, I am morally against shipping incest and pedophilic ships, and I believe fiction affects reality. That fits about every definition of an anti I've heard.

"But only proship people are anti-harassment!" Proshippers harass antis all the time. We both know that.

Why is this such a radical concept for so many people??? I mostly socialize with fandomers in their 30s-40s, and yet the concept of someone who is simultaneously an anti (defined as someone who objects to ships with offensive elements - namely, incest and pedophilia, in my case) and who uses "block and move on" netiquette is just too much for them to handle...

I'm sick of explaining. I'm sick of this discourse. I'm sick of grown adults having no sense if nuance! I'm sorry to break the illusion that every anti is a teenager who loves to send death threats over fandom. That must be real inconvenient for your black and white worldview. But that doesn't mean you get to raise the bar to define me out of being an anti. Jeez.

(if the comments on this confession end up just being people proving my point, i will be very sad.)
