From what I've seen antis are just against certain things being portrayed in fiction at all and seem to believe it's morally wrong to do so and I just..... I don't understand why someone would want to identify with that label so much even when disagreeing with sending harassment. Like why is the label itself so important to announce.

Can't you just say "[topic] in stories is really upsetting to me so I avoid it" without calling yourself an anti?

A lot of people have issues with antis because of their vicious behavior, it's not like they're just some poor uwu group that is picked on unfairly for no reason. They're disliked for acting like the self appointed morality cops. Where as some proship people DO send harassment their stance isn't built on making it their business to stop people from doing something in fic. That's probably why people think harassment is more part of being an anti. Sorry but their behavior made it that seem that way.

Yeah this is the part I don't get.

Most antis that talk about finding things "morally wrong" like OP says are the kind that want it to be illegal to write or create etc those topics. OP claims not to be that type, so not sure why IDing as an Anti is so important to them.

I theoretically understand it, if one outright believes a certain topic is immoral and wouldn't object to it being banned, believe that fiction can affect reality, that is in line with anti ideology. But if you don't do anything about it... Isn't that just how most people are? Most people have thoughts that are kind of knee-jerk and fueled more by emotion than logic that they keep to themselves. No need to announce it.

OP isn't saying "these things are upsetting so I avoid them," they are saying "I am against these things being written/shipped in fiction and believe it's morally wrong to do so."

I'm glad they don't harass people! I wish more antis had that level of self-restraint! Quietly judging other people as immoral for their fic tastes is better than openly harassing people for it.

But it would be even better if OP didn't think other people were immoral just for liking fic they find upsetting. And, unfortunately, they haven't gotten there.
