"I believe fiction affects reality".

So do you believe people gets shoot for real in movies?

I 100% disagree with the line of thinking, but when antis say "fiction affects reality", that isn't what it means. They mean things like the Jaws effect and propaganda affecting public perceptions. It's a flawed argument but it isn't saying "fiction is actually real".

The thing with the Jaws effect is that the film purposely used the publics lack of knowledge about sharks behavior in order to lend more horror to it. Propaganda also is specifically made with the intention of preying on peoples ignorance in order to make them believe something is real. The overwhelming majority of people already believe that incest and child/adult sex is morally repugnant and therefore won't immediately have their minds changed just by seeing some fanfiction with 30 views at most.

Hell, even cows kill more humans than sharks, but doing a movie about cow killing humans would be taken more like a comedy than a horror movie like Jaws.

not to mention hippos

Is like someone mentioned on Tumblr: The one who wrote Jurassic Park/World showing the herbivore dinosaurs as calm and affectionate and peaceful animals... They have never been near a herbivore animal at all.

Slight off-topic, but wasn't the Jaws thing debunked? It didn't spark a shark killing industry, it was already there even before and unrelated to Jaws?

Like that War of The Worlds broadcast, it wasn't the amount of panic as people and journals at the time like to make it.
