I have to say I use pause most often. If something is getting too intense, or if I need a moment to take in what just happened, or a moment to prepare myself for what seems to be coming, I pause. Alongside the general breaks (have to go to the bathroom, spilled something, want to get a drink, need to check something, etc.) It ends up being a lot of pausing.
