If I go looking up what other people say the genre is. I don't know what it is when I hear it other than very high level stuff (country - rap - classical - etc). People are like, do you like new wave neo-punk death metal? And I have no idea what that would even sound like. Maybe? Here's a list of all the songs I've got saved that I like, and see if whatever it is you said is in there.

DA - same. I often search songs I like to see what genre it is labeled as if I want to participate in those types of discussions.

Yeah, seriously. I find music classification both a pain, and mostly useless in terms of seeking out other music that I (hopefully) will like. Whatever genre-definers seem to be judging it by, that really doesn't seem to have anything to do with what appeals to me.

It's frustrating because there are other things where keyword-searching actually gets me practical definitions of "similar," but not here.
