Could be.

I was so happy when "you follow the villain around and get to hear about things as they were seeing them and maneuvering" became more of a thing in books, and some of the stories actually lived up to it. I really enjoyed a POV book called Heathcliff. I don't know if it would seem as great to me decades later - it was written in the early 90's - but it was exactly what I wanted to read at the time.
